How does the optical see through paradigm improve the surgeon’s work?

What is the difference between the optical see trough and video see through paradigm? Both paradigms have pros and cons: being able to access the see-through video means being able to have a greater level of accuracy for the doctor, guaranteeing millimeter precision. In contrast, there is perhaps a lower level of comfort. Vincenzo Ferrari, coordinator and PI of the Vostars project, explains the advantages and open challenges for both paradigms, also illustrating the directions that research is taking in this area.
